David Vs Goliath Episode 5: Full Metal Jacket

Coming back from tribal, Kara has to pretend not to be mad at Alec, as he does a terrible job of justifying the move. Now Kara is in scramble mode.

The calm before the storm

A large, dark cloud approaches the island. Natalie says she loves the weather, but notices it getting stronger. Jabeni are being battered by rain and have no chance of getting a fire going. Tiva lose their tribe flag. They all get the news that a hurricane is heading right for them and they are being evacuated for the night. When they come back, all three camps are completely destroyed.

I bet they couldn't wait to have a slingshot challenge

The reward challenge is to knock down sandbags from a net and fire them out of a slingshot into two baskets. The reward is chickens for 1st place and eggs for 2nd. Tiva gets their bags out first, followed by Jabeni. Davie struggles and lets Alec do most of the work. On the slingshot, Alec takes one shot and scores, putting them in an instant lead. Angelina is the next to get one, and then Elizabeth secures a win. Dan puts Tiva on the board, but it's not enough and a shot from Nick wins it.

Kara starts pleading her case to the Davids, saying she doesn't trust Alec anymore. Elizabeth still thinks it makes more sense to keep Alec though, since he betrayed his old tribe and kinda needs them now.

Too many cooks in the kitchen

Over on Jabeni, there's drama over the eggs. Natalie wants to cook them all in one go, but Lyrsa thinks that's a bad idea. Lyrsa and Mike are both at their breaking point with her. Christian, John and Dan have formed an alliance called the Brochachos on Tiva. Dan feels confident Gabby is the next boot, but is hoping to find the green idol just to make sure. He finds a clue that tells him the idol is at the challenge.

Who knew this is something he'd be good at?

Speaking of the challenge, they have to place a ladder on a platform, pull down a bridge using rope, get everybody across and then do a ball maze in the shape of a snake. Tiva and Vuku race across the bridge section first, with Natalie taking some hits. John, Alec and Nick are the ones to take on the snake, whilst Dan snags the idol hidden in the post. Alec and John both drop to give Nick a lead, but he's going very slow. Christian takes over for John and does pretty well at it. Alec and Christian both overtake Nick and get their balls to the top. Christian weirdly starts crying.

The hottest item in the new Fall catalogue

The Goliaths debate whether to vote out Nick or Lyrsa, with Angelina saying Nick is stronger in challenges. But she also wants Lyrsa out to get her jacket, as silly as that sounds, and sends Natalie to try and get it. But when Natalie makes a veiled threat at Nick to either get the jacket or get voted out, he calls her a bully for taking advantage of her position of power. Nick goes to see where Mike's head is at since they have a good relationship, and Mike sends him off to do work on Angelina, who is unsure but swayable.

At tribal council, Angelina says keeping Goliath numbers is important. Natalie says she's not used to being involved with drama and that she's more laid-back in real life, but the rest of the tribe don't buy it based on their reactions. The eggs incident is discussed as is the jacket, but Natalie insists she's a negotiator, not a bully. Angelina admits she had a part in the jacket incident too, after encouragement from Natalie.

Casting their votes, Nick tells Natalie "you could make a preacher cuss", whilst Natalie compliments Lyrsa's hair. The votes come back 3-2 and Natalie is gone. Angelina gives Natalie a (probably fake) hug and asks her for her jacket...but Natalie walks off, ignoring her. Now that was absolute poetry. I'll miss Natalie, she sure stirred up a lot of trouble, but what a way to exit. Now I guess we wait to see if this comes back to bite the Goliaths in the ass.

STAR OF THE WEEK: ANGELINA KEELEY

Really it was the last scene that sealed it, but I am a big fan of her game and she always gives intelligent, strategic insight. She seemed to be the voice of reason in not knocking off one of their own. Now somebody just get her a jacket, dammit!
