David Vs Goliath Episode 6: The Pivot Point

He's no Ozzy, that's for sure

Lyrsa marks off the tree having miraculously survived to see another day yet again. Mike and Angelina laugh about how the last tribal went down, but Lyrsa thinks it wasn't a good look for Angelina to be so fixated on the jacket. Nick, Mike and Lyrsa are all talking about how sketchy Angelina is, and how easy it would be to get her out next. On Tiva, Christian tries on the fishing equipment but isn't very effective.

The reward challenge is to carry a bag of coconuts out of the water to a fence that the tribemate tied to the bag will climb over and grab rings for a game of ring toss. Alec is first to get to the beam, Gabby not far behind and Lyrsa dragging, even getting the rope caught and needing to go back. Vuku are first to start tossing but it's actually Dan who scores first. Then Jabeni catch up and a point from Nick gets them back into it. Davie does eventually start hitting some, but John and Dan again score to give Tiva a win, Nick helps Jabeni take 2nd. Big collapse for Vuku, but the real story is that Mike is now considering flipping back to side with Angelina after seeing how the Goliaths reacted to Natalie being gone.

Shock and awe

The Brochachos are openly bro-ing down in front of everyone, even using their alliance name. Christian is happy to finally be a cool guy for once. Gabby opens up to Alison about her concerns in the game, and Alison tells her she would be happy to side with her and blindside a big threat like Dan.

Bamboo train, comin' through!

Elizabeth has been having back problems, so wants to split the bamboo on her tribe's shelter in half to make it easier to lie on. Davie sees this and makes her put it back, saying they started it too late in the day. Elizabeth blows up over it, and now Carl wants her out. Oh no, whatever disease that was making the Goliaths want to turn on eachother has spread to the Davids!

They've got the spirit, but not the strength

The immunity challenge is to fill up a disc with water and pour it into a bucket until it releases puzzle pieces, then solve the puzzle. Christian just about gets his jumper off in time to start. Jabeni are the slowest and also fill it up the least. Vuku take a spill, but Jabeni take one too. Tiva breeze through it and fill their bucket up instantly. Jabeni struggle to carry it and are left behind when not even their second trip is enough. Tiva win immunity thanks to puzzle God Christian again. Alec and Kara are taking their time since Jabeni are nowhere close. Jabeni can barely hold it, needing to take breaks, and even drop the disc close to the end. As they debate picking it back up again, they see there's no need as Vuku are just wrapping it up. It's a sad performance, they had no hope from the start. Mike starts crying as he was hoping all four of them would make the merge and now they can't.

Hitting the campaign trail hard

Angelina talks with Lyrsa, but doesn't really get much in response, so now she wants her out. Lyrsa and Nick work on Mike to try and make an Angelina vote happen though, with Mike laughing about how pissed she'll be. The writer is considering his options though, letting Nick know he's worried about the Davids ganging up on him. Nick argues this is a great opportunity to take out a strategic threat.

At tribal council, Jeff says he was struck by the bond the four of them seemed to have at the challenge. Angelina talks about the strategy of the vote and hopes that everybody sticks to the plan they agreed. Angelina then interrupts Nick's answer to butter him up and compliment his eyes, as Lyrsa points out what she's doing.

We get to the vote, and it seems pretty obvious what's happening her...oh wait no, Lyrsa ends up going. Wow, I thought for sure it would be Angelina since they barely even made an effort to show Nick on the fence - but she survives, and I couldn't be happier. The merge is on the horizon, and I want as many good players there as possible.

STAR OF THE WEEK: MIKE WHITE

Somewhat unexpectedly, Mike seemed to be the crucial decision maker this week, and it's a smart move to keep himself in the Goliaths' good graces. By knowing when to pivot and pivot back, he's done a good job setting himself up between the two tribes, and his narration is as sharp as ever.
